Dog Sweater
Good Evening! I'm off to bed but just finished a quick evening knitting project I thought I would share with everyone. I saw a beautiful Debbie Mumm yarn when I was buying a a card at JoAnns Fabric Store and instantly thought it would look great as a dog sweater on Mia. The yarn was called "Traditions" by Debbie Mumm and was in color "Heather Haze" which is a tonal yarn of blues, purples, and cranberry. One 80 gram skein of yarn made the sweater with a little leftover. Using the pattern "Basic Coat" from Paton's "A Dog's Life" I casted on the number of stitches they recommended for the small size (to fit 12" chest measurement). I followed the pattern for the neckline and leg openings but after that I switched to circular needles and did "my own thing". I found the Paton's pattern (when followed as written) had a shape that caused the back of the sweater to flip up and looked messy. I've made a number of dog sweaters between Maddie (my toy poodle) and Mia (the Maltese in this picture) and will hopefully post my own pattern here soon. I hope this inspires a few people to make a quick sweater for their dog. All in all the knitting took about 3 hours. Happy knitting!
