Finished Yarn

Here is the result of my first attempt at hand dying yarn. I'm currently knitting a shrug with the yarn. It's interesting to look at the color variation and the lack of any red in the skein. Even though I used red and blue dye, all red dye turned into a purple color. It turned out lovely I think for my first attempt. I might also make a dog sweater with the last skein of the yarn (the only downside is the yarn I dyed is NOT superwash so I would have to hand wash the sweater...) Anyone that dyes yarn, do you have any words of wisdom to dying yarn? Good color combinations? My next dye experiment will be using Kool-Aid (hopefully with a finished product that doesn't look like it comes from the land of Rainbow Bright...)
