Happy Labor Day! As many of you know I am a member of the fiber CSA through Martha Vineyard's Fiber Farm. I am so excited to receive my share of yarn spun from the spring flock!
Martha Vineyard's Farm is a great farm which raises registered Angora Goats, registered Cormo, Cotswold and Babydoll Southdown sheep on an all natural pasture and hay diet. The shepherd, Susan Gibbs, takes wonderful care of her animals and keeps her CSA members up-to-date with a wonderful blog posted with pictures and updates on her farm and animals. From her posts you can tell how wonderfully dedicated and in-love with her animals she is.
If you haven't checked out her blog, please do so here!
Susan is currently having a massive giveaway to those of you who are interested in living the shepherd life in a smaller way. She currently has more angora goats than she needs and she never sells her animals for meat or to auction - so she is open for finding a wonderful home who is interested in developing their own small flock. She is giving away a hand-spinners flock and the people at Sand Creek Post and Barn are giving the chosen entry a custom made run-in shed.
Go over to Susan's blog and look at the rules for entry (this is an essay contest that is reviewed by Susan). This is a HUGE deal for Susan and she isn't just giving away her animals. She is looking to spread the love to people dedicated and interested in loving their own flock.
If you've always wanted to expand your knitting to raising a flock for fiber, this is your perfect opportunity. Check it out!
